MISSION

She Is Safe of Chautauqua County exists to empower women on their journey from abuse to independence. Our mission is to provide emergency funding, critical resources, and support for women escaping violence. We are actively fundraising to establish a safe house in the community, where survivors can find refuge, heal, and rebuild their lives with hope and dignity. Through awareness, immediate assistance, and lasting change, we are committed to creating a future where every woman has the opportunity to thrive, free from abuse.

For Women by Women

She Is Safe was founded by Rebecca Magnuson, a survivor of domestic abuse who understands firsthand how isolating and overwhelming it can be to seek safety and start over. Her personal journey fuels every part of the organization’s mission and guides how She Is Safe shows up for women in need.

Rebecca created She Sings®, A Soaring Musical that shares her story of survival, healing, and reclaiming one’s voice through music. The show is more than a performance, it's a way to give back. Every performance of She Sings® is a benefit to support She Is Safe and a local nonprofit in each city it is performed.

Magnuson also owns and operates She Sings Cafe in Chautauqua County which is intentionally used as an extension of the She Is Safe mission. The café offers employment opportunities to survivors, hosts fundraisers, creates space for book studies and community conversations, and mobilizes support for women seeking safety.

She Is Safe exists because Rebecca believes no woman should have to face abuse alone and that healing begins when someone feels seen, supported, and safe.

"High-spectrum psychological abusers know precisely how to control the optics of their choosing. They preemptively set the false filter in which the victim's actions will be put through. The level of toxic manipulation is staggering, intentional, and dangerous." - Shannon Thomas
